What is climate change? , causes and solution of climate change.

“Climate change means the change in the Earth’s global climate over the time” (Wikipedia). Climate change is becoming a serious issue because it has many negative effects on earth such as change in earth’s temperature, depletion of ozone layer, ocean and sea level increases because of melting glaciers, etc. Climate change is not only harming the atmosphere but also to the living things because after the industrial revolution,  humans have been burning a lot of fossil fuel like coal, gas and oil and due to that Carbon dioxide (CO2) and Sulfur dioxide (SO2) in the atmosphere increases which results in greenhouse effect. Due to the greenhouse effect, earth’s atmosphere absorbs the heat coming from the sun and the temperature of the earth increases. Most people think climate change is global warming, but global warming means rising in atmosphere temperature, which is one factor of climate change. As the CBC news Canada report, “Climate change encompasses a wide range of atmospheric variants, including rising temperatures, forecast unpredictability, extreme weather events and natural disasters such as wildfires, floods, and droughts” (Kelsey, 2019).

As it is said that ‘Transformation is the only constant’ applies very well here the changes in the atmosphere can be tracked back to the early civilizations, ice ages, and dinosaurs era. This change nurtures and builds up the ecology as necessary for the flora and fauna to adapt and survive. This changes in the temperature and pressure occurred so slowly but stagnantly that the species had the required period to acclimatize and evolve accordingly. For example, Meteor Shower which is believed to be the cause of the extinction of dinosaurs took about a few years, yet they couldn’t adapt to the elevated temperatures. Looking towards the current scenarios the change in the respective habitat is very rapid and vast, not giving its species much time to adapt and find other resources for survival. Due to this reason, many species have become extremely rare and much more have become extinct. If this change goes on with such a drastic effect than it can also become a grave threat towards the survival of the human species.

Several events happened unnaturally in our environment due to human activity. One of the most dangerous event is releasing greenhouse gases in the atmosphere. Greenhouse gases are water vapor, carbon dioxide, methane, nitrous oxide, and other minor gas. These gases allow sun rays to reach the earth’s surface but stop sun rays to leave earth atmosphere by absorbing its energy. It makes our planet’s atmosphere warmer than it was making numerous changes in its overall ecology. So that some amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is adequate for human survival on earth. Problem is, more amount of greenhouse gases are released in the atmosphere in last 70 to 80 years due to human activities like, industrial revolution, deforestation to get more land for agriculture, industry and living of human, and intensive agriculture to feed our population, burning fossil fuel. As per NOAA’s yearly report, the annual greenhouse gas index (AGGI) has been increased by 43 % by human-produced greenhouse gases from 1990 to 2018 (Luann, 2019). Apart from this, very shocking statics is, AGGI took approximately 240 years to rise from 0 to 1 starting with the industrial revolution in 1750 and took only 26 years to increase 1.4 (another 40%) index (Luann, 2019).  Here is graph that shows numerical details of production of greenhouse gases over last 40 years.

Greenhouse gases trap sun energy in the earth’s atmosphere and release slowly in the atmosphere. This will affect the atmosphere’s temperature and pressure which causes wind circulation patterns, movement of cloud, amount of Precipitation, tornadoes, hurricanes, and heat waves. All unnatural activities have been happening which are a consequence of climate change. Major reasons behind greenhouse gases, human has been deforestation to use land in the purpose of agriculture and living, and usage of fossil fuel in industry, transportation and everywhere. These factors contribute to enormous carbon dioxide and methane in the atmosphere. As per the CBC News report, we are facing the effect of greenhouse gas emissions from 1980, so the result of today’s greenhouse gases will affect after 25 to 30 years (Kelsey, 2019). It will be going to worse than today that why we need an effective solution to save our future. Here is video which tells how greenhouse effect is doing in our environment.

In addition to this, greenhouse can be considered to be an enormous issue, apart from which there are many other problems which occur as a result or side effect of the greenhouse effect like, icebergs melting, rising sea levels, elevation in earth temperatures, depletion of ozone layer, snow storms, river floods and desertification.

Besides, what are the solutions for these type of problems? We should increase the usage of renewable energy compare to conventional energy, and plant trees in large number instead of deforestation. In Canada, the carbon tax is implemented on carbon pollution, it means you have to pay more money for carbon pollution. Educate people by providing knowledge about problems and their solution. It is a good idea to make commercial buildings run by clean energy and do plantation around buildings. For example, in our Mohawk College, there is one new building that uses all clean energy for all facilities. I believe that giving enough knowledge to people about how to use a clean resource, and usage of sustainable products in daily life. It might be a better way to save the environment. Here is video which describes solution for revers global warming.

In conclusion, to give a healthy environment to the upcoming generation, everyone should take some serious steps toward protecting the environment by encouraging people to use more renewable energy as much as possible. The government should also provide subsidies to people, which tend to motivate people to prefer more renewable resources. The jurisdiction should also organize awareness campaigns to plant more trees so that we can purify the air of the atmosphere. The government should take strict action towards the industries which are producing more amount of harmful gases and chemicals. Also, products which are made of plastic which takes thousands of years to decompose in environment, which leads to worse effect on atmosphere as well as it disturbs the ecosystem, for the same we should now start using alternative products of plastic-like paper bag, paper straws and so on.

Introduce Yourself (Example Post)

This is an example post, originally published as part of Blogging University. Enroll in one of our ten programs, and start your blog right.

You’re going to publish a post today. Don’t worry about how your blog looks. Don’t worry if you haven’t given it a name yet, or you’re feeling overwhelmed. Just click the “New Post” button, and tell us why you’re here.

Why do this?

  • Because it gives new readers context. What are you about? Why should they read your blog?
  • Because it will help you focus you own ideas about your blog and what you’d like to do with it.

The post can be short or long, a personal intro to your life or a bloggy mission statement, a manifesto for the future or a simple outline of your the types of things you hope to publish.

To help you get started, here are a few questions:

  • Why are you blogging publicly, rather than keeping a personal journal?
  • What topics do you think you’ll write about?
  • Who would you love to connect with via your blog?
  • If you blog successfully throughout the next year, what would you hope to have accomplished?

You’re not locked into any of this; one of the wonderful things about blogs is how they constantly evolve as we learn, grow, and interact with one another — but it’s good to know where and why you started, and articulating your goals may just give you a few other post ideas.

Can’t think how to get started? Just write the first thing that pops into your head. Anne Lamott, author of a book on writing we love, says that you need to give yourself permission to write a “crappy first draft”. Anne makes a great point — just start writing, and worry about editing it later.

When you’re ready to publish, give your post three to five tags that describe your blog’s focus — writing, photography, fiction, parenting, food, cars, movies, sports, whatever. These tags will help others who care about your topics find you in the Reader. Make sure one of the tags is “zerotohero,” so other new bloggers can find you, too.
